I had a similar experience, sans jail and FBI. During a family gathering, I argued with my father that poor people should not be poor and jobs exploit us all. He’s like “this sounds just like some run of the mill Marx and Engels”.

So then I read Marx and Engels and now I want to destroy the West

It’s crazy that this is what they believe they’re fighting to stop. “I’m on this mission because poor people should be poor.”

yeah it really is insane, marxists are saying “yo morals aside society is just way way less efficient being run this way, it is in the self interests of the vast majority of society aside from those who literally own factories to do away with money/state/class” and our opponents are crying themselves to sleep when an orphan has a hot meal and safe place to sleep at night

thats what they say to an average amerikkkan, but if the feds are trying to press a suspected commie and then use an argument like this it makes me think the feds arent including socialism: utopian and scientific in their curriculum which makes me sad that we still cant beat them despite that

Someone I know read Masters Of Deceit: The Story Of Communism In America And How To Fight It by J. Edgar Hoover and funny enough set him on the path of becoming a communist. Said that after slogging through the droll and dull dipshittery of most of the book and you see what the then-leader of the FBI was describing the menace of American communists posed, it was basic shit like “they joined unions and helped fight for workers rights” or “they thought it was a crime against humanity that poor people were starving in the U.S”

here’s an excerpt of that right-wing crank’s book

“The Party has operated hundreds of major fronts in practically every field of Party agitation: ‘peace,’ civil rights, protection of the foreign-born, support for (political) ‘victims,’ abolition of H-bomb tests, exploitation of nationality and minority groups.”

Shit those don’t sound too bad now, actually. Anyone that isn’t a fucking demon would be suspected of being a filthy red then. If you went out and did red charity. If you went down south to fight against Jim Crow. If you helped shelter black families as they migrated from the south to greener pastures across the U.S. If you didn’t want to set the world on fire. Anything and anyone that works to improve humanity is considered an enemy of the united states and a communist.

I think I’m going to start pressing the people in my life when they call me a commie for doing something (completely detached from politics) they don’t like

      It’s time

I find it kinda funny how disconnected chapotraphouse the community and Chapo Trap House the podcast have become that this seems like a coincidence

the twitter post could be coincidence, I have no idea if that guy is a chapo head

but if the same was posted here I would assume they heard it on chapo

I don’t hate chapo but I’m glad we aren’t so focused on it anymore, its just not that interesting being like “oh that felix bit was hysterical”, “oh will’s trump impression is bad” multiple times a week for 5-10 years. I still listen when I feel like it, but its not my whole political universe, thank god
