I’ve never seen a microbat irl. I hear them all the timr but I can’t see them cos I’m nightblind (idk if walking around with a headtorch is disruptive to them so not gunna go that route either)

It’s neat you hear them at least! There’s like hardly any bats where I’m at so it would be surprising to ever see or hear one. I’m sure they’re around here, somewhere

Fruitbats are noisy af, you can hear the beat of their wings as they fly over or when they’re squabbling in the trees. The smaller bats I hear when they’re echolocating to catch the insects that flock to the lights around my apartment complex, it’s like a short sharp tsk tsk/tsp tsp.

Edit: it’s this species which is audible to humans white striped freetail

Edit edit: i hope you can research and find a species that lives near you. Happy bat hunting :)

aw, white striped freetail bats are so cute! and oh I can imagine fruitbats being noisy. esp. since they’re bigger than regular bats since they’re like megabats? but there also like the great flying fox? It’s neat their also around you as well!
