Just straight up saying “IF we win you can go back to brunch and things will be normal again”.

Also lol they’re still doing “We need a strong Republican Party”.

The browser ate my alt text but this is Mayo Pete saying something like "A vote for a Harris is a vote to get politics out of everyone’s fa

I hate hearing random people in public complaining about “things getting so political these days.” grill-broke

Being “nonpolitical” even in a performative way is basically impossible when there’s a fierce culture war whenever a feeemale charater in a work of fiction doesn’t look exactly like a boring reactionary cishet asshole’s spank bank material.

Democracy is when you don’t pay attention to politics and have no say in politics and trust all political decisionmaking to the people who keep fucking up so bad that the next election is the most important election ofyour lifetime and democracy is on the ballot.

Get politics out of your face and what happens? Increase in oil drilling. Roe v wade still overturned. “Critical race theory” or anything that makes cuckservatives uncomfortable removed from schools, build up to major conflict with china/russia. Continuing genocide. Whats that these dems like saying? There’s no going back?

Personally, I’m doing the opposite of whatever this guy says because I assume he’s trying to manipulate me into giving him my dog.

  • And the fun part is that even if someone just wanted to go back to brunch, this isn’t even true! The right always keeps getting more rabid and insane, usually more so in the situation of being in opposition to a hollow centrist regime.

The fact that these centrists just want to “turn down the temperature on politics” means they don’t actually address any deep structural issues or make real change. So it is just 4 more years of them holding the bag on these crises, and the rabid right’s job is made easier since they can just criticize shortcomings with some appeals to bigotry in place of solutions.

Oh yeah, htere’s never any discussion, anywhere, ever, or even consideration, of systematically dismantling the GOP in a way that would prevent it from ever taking power again.

can’t believe there’s an electoralism megathread for the election in the ELECTORALISM COMM which should be the one sub happy to take any and every electoralism thread, but every other comm has 100 electoralism centered posts on the daily.

FREE THE ELECTORALISM COMM I SHOULD BE ABLE TO POST MULTIPLE THREADS ABOUT VOTE COUNTS TOMORROW NIGHT INSTEAD OF BEING SUBJUGATED IN A MEGATHREAD angry-place

It’s hardly surprising these are the same super assholes who think that capitalism can work as long as you put 20,000 pounds of restrictions and safeguards on it to make sure it doesn’t melt the planet down in an effort to sell more fossil fuels… Oh wait that already happened?

Yeah definitely wouldn’t want a weak republican party then the Dems would actually have to do the things instead of just running in place forever.

The interesting thing is that it’s not politics in people’s faces, but the hysterical screaming of the news, so it’s saying “We will stop harassing you if our guy is in charge” but disguising the perpetrator of the harassment.

Shit like this is what makes it clear Democrats don’t actually give a shit about winning. If they wanted to win they’d keep the Republican Party as unhinged as possible so they could continue to run on “it puts the neoliberalism on its skin or it gets the fascism again.” Having a “normal” Republican Party would absolutely nuke their chances of winning as they’ve erased any daylight between themselves and the Liz Cheneys of the GOP.
