the West has so perfectly nurtured the idea that the totality of the concept of democracy can be contained within the sentence “having more than one party that you can vote for, regardless of the views of those parties” that to this day, I find it incredibly difficult to even prompt liberals to imagine alternative possibilities, let alone hit them with the mind-shattering revelation that China might, in fact, be a more democratic country than the United States

it’s wild how amerikans have completely forgotten that under Trump, several disarmament treaties with Russia were voided, the shelling of Donbass by Ukrainian nationalists intensified and thousands of US troops were moved eastward from Germany to Poland. There’s no way he’d be less of a ghoul on Ukraine in his second term, he was materially just as anti-Russia as every US president before and after him, he just delivered on the pro-Putin aesthetics for the strongman fanbois that make up most of his base. He’d brag about peace talks coming soon for as long as the IMC wants to continue feeding Ukrainians into the meatgrinder, then congratulate himself on ending the war while stanting on a mountain of skulls.

They’ve been on the “Sure, our guy is pro-genocide, but the other guy is pro-two genocides!” for a while now.
I think this gives a bit of insight into how this works for them. Trump is an “inevitability” unless they bravely go out and vote. Palestinians are already “goners” so there’s no point worrying about them. More importantly they, the liberal, get to be the hero stopping Trump by voting. Stopping Trump is the most important thing a person can do, no matter how many people they need to “sacrifice” in the process. Trump really broke the brains of libs, they haven’t been the same since 2016.
