@[email protected] made a really good thread to help people deal with windows 11. I learned from it.
A bunch of people started posting about Linux in that thread.
Sometimes a good judge of if there’s enough interest to have a community is if people are talking about it in threads where it’s off topic.
Would it help to have a Linux comm?
we have /c/libre
People aren’t posting about Linux in threads like that because we don’t have a place to talk about Linux.
We’re posting about Linux because we want you to stop selling your attention and privacy to a giant corporation for a worse product than the collectively developed one.
It was not really off topic, to be clear, seeing as mako presented it specifically as “you don’t need to install linux you can just remove the bad parts of windows”. c/libre and c/technology both are perfectly acceptable places to post about linux (see the sidebar in c/technology), and I don’t think we should quarantine linux talk to just c/libre or a new c/linux.
Some people are just terminally windows brained and refuse to even consider other options. I had someone on here awhile ago tell me saying people shouldn’t use Windows was victim blaming.

comparing software users to abuse victims is… a choice…
my hot take is that windows ppl are like non-vegans: Keep it to yourself and we wont have a problem, but if you start doing anti-FOSS propaganda people are going to be all over that and you shouldn’t be surprised
yeah it wasn’t off topic
There is a /c/libre comm which includes all the Linux GNUs + everything that is related to free software. Feel free to post there if you want there’s not a lot of activity unfortunately but that can always change!
fwiw /c/[email protected] is pretty active and (imho) reasonably moderated :)
We have one on lemmygrad, but uhhhhhh I don’t really manage it that well xD
Talking about Linux in a thread about windows 11 is not off topic
Not enough nerds here, there’s probably a lot of useful shit i can post about linux since I’ve used it full time for many years and have tried almost every distro there is. That reminds me time to try out fedora again

Why can’t you just access them from hexbear?
