    Reminder: Einstein was pretty fucking horrific to his wives. He was obviously brilliant in his field, but the strange cult of personality build around how he was somehow this big brained super evolved version of humanity who knew deep moral truths about the universe is IMO kinda cringy discount great man theory whether it was him actually advocating for socialism or made up anecdotes totally owning atheist college professors.

      Wouldn’t you rather go somewhere that wasn’t imminently about to be invaded by the Nazis? Beyond that, he didn’t intend to emigrate to the US when he went there: Hitler was appointed chancellor while Einstein was touring in the United States and he elected not to return to Germany.
