JAC Motors, a Volkswagen-backed Chinese automaker, unveiled the first mass-produced EV with a sodium-ion battery through its new Yiwei brand. Although sodium-ion battery tech has a lower density than lithium-ion, its lower costs, simpler and more abundant supplies and superior cold-weather performance could help accelerate mass EV adoption.
I think the thing with these sodium batteries is they are less energy denss than even LFP batteries.
LFP are great for standard range vehicles and are in a lot of the lower tier EVs and the nickle ones go into the long range versions.
But these should be even cheaper than LFP which is cheaper than Nickle.
These would probably make it easier to make cheaper commuter cars, where right now the price/range ratio makes them a harder sell
No clue about cycles.
