They basically posted that she had an affair with Whindersson Nunes. When she posted that it was fake, the owner of the page responded: oh come on, you can’t fool anyone with those acting skills. She ended up committing suicide due to all the harassment from the fake news. There’s a Xwitter thread explaining everything (English). https://x.com/oLucasWelter/status/1738347114306957514?s=20

This affects me in a personal level and show how much power social media gives to random people. Note that the girl didn’t even had Instagram, she created one to respond to the fake allegations. She didn’t had an affair, it was fake/made up screenshots. She was only 22 years old. Rest In Peace. Hopefully the page and owner get sentences as they played big part in the harassment (22mil followers page Choquei).

I’m sorry that this affects you on a personal level.

In reference to your name, that is one heck of a show. In my top 5 of best shows ever made.

Not that I am related to the girl, but lost due to suicide too. I guess it wasn’t clear.

        Yeah, Bojack is hella good.

It’s not a left or right debate, it’s about civilization! The big issue needs to be resolved: platforms are not neutral, the algorithms reward the extreme, the grotesque, the destructive, the aberrant, the chaotic. And this is paid for! There are people profiting from the degeneration of society.

    – Silvio Almeida, Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, Brazil

I don’t think it has ever been said better or more concisely. I’m sorry that people have had to die for it to be said, and that more will die before it is ever corrected. But that guy gets it.

It means they didn’t want “didn’t respond” or similar things to appear in the news coverage

Reinforce our commitment to act with diligence and responsibility

So like, the businesses making these statements only do so after much deliberation from a group of people.

They essentially gather in a room, or group call, and try to figure out what is the best way to say nothing while making it seem like you’re saying something.

Someone was paid to make that statement. Nobody actually cares about what it means or if the company follows up on it. By then, everyone will have moved on.

It’s a science at this point.

It’s basically the same kind of treatment the paparazzi and yellow press are giving prominent people and somehow it’s okay then just because they are famous.

But for decades that was normalized because people were buying it and now it’s spreading to other areas as well
