Mecca Goes Under Water! Deadly Floods Turn the Holy City into a Deadly Sea

A severe flood hit the Al Nawariyah district in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on November 4, 2023, after heavy rainfall caused flash floods in the area. The flood damaged houses, cars, roads, and infrastructure, and forced many residents to evacuate their homes.

According to the Saudi Civil Defense, the flood was more than 70 millimeters of rain in some parts of Mecca in less than an hour.

The flood affected several neighborhoods in the Al Nawariyah district, which is located near the Grand Mosque, the holiest site in Islam.
