Every fanfic writer I know has one.

I have a sequel to a fic from forever ago that I just…haven’t gotten to writing. I’ve started and stopped at least three times! I don’t know why it’s been such a struggle.

    One I’ve held onto too long and have recently told myself to let it go was a crossover of Waiting for Godot and Pokémon. However my brain just could not plan it out beyond the initial meta joke of “fandom in denial about TPC respecting their time/money”.

    As for ideas I’m still clinging to…

    Crossover of YGO: Duel Monsters and CRAWL. I have a bunch of ideas doodled out and notes but don’t have it properly organised. The narrator of CRAWL is absolutely King Thief they are one and the same to me lol.

    Writing some wlw for Sakuna of Rice and Ruin. Sakuna and her best friend Kokorowa have a lot of fun potential! (I also need to state that I’m the only person to have written anything for this game in English. Pain.)

    Pokémon GS/HGSS but specifically about the power the player (once upon a time) has over the rival’s name and using that as a tool. Pokémon but what is the golden/pure heart Ho-Oh is looking for (which is now wrapped up with the other idea explaining what had happened to the Brass Tower). Fixits of all of the massive plotholes SwordShield and ScarletViolet have.

    Fixit of the massive horrible mess of Pacific Rim: Uprising. So many good ideas that should of been separate films but instead they choke on each other in one.

    What if Jurassic World kept the heart of the anti-capitalsim of the original book and first film. What if we explored the coolest idea in Jurassic World that was just a news clipping shoved in the background. “the worth of allowing once extinct animals go extinct again” and compared to other animals we once thought to be extinct and we are studying in real life today.

      Ohhh… You had me at fixit of PR:U. That was a mess.

      Also the JW one. Loved the vibe of the first film & then it just became churn (now with added dinosaurs!). 😢

        I usually just leave when I witness such carelessness but I was enthralled by how many good ideas that were there. PR:U is at least 4 films smashed into one but I haven’t had the time/brain matter to start organizing the tangled structures yet.

        JW is just… holy fuck someone on the writing team at one point actually research what its like working with dangerous animals. Original Owen hits a lot of notes my loved ones who work in the field have had to tackle with! but those writers either were removed or very likely, the suits told them no. You can have a “monster film” without making animals senseless hunters goddammit.

    I have a series (2 stories at the mo) that’s very fluffy slice of life romantic. Early this year, shortly after starting the 2nd story, I came up with a bonkers idea for the 3rd story. AU/multiverse, paranormal weirdness from the fandom that I just ignore in my series up til now, dragging bits from the original 2 stories & reusing the characters (& angsting the crap out of one of them).

    And it has been killlling me that I had to finish the 2nd story before I could start on the 3rd. At one point I had to comfort-write a couple of chapters just to break writer’s block on story 2. I reckon I’ve got less than half a dozen chapters of story 2 to go & then I am launching myself bodily at story 3. 😅

    …once again, didn’t get this notification. sigh

    The question is how many ideas don’t I have? I could list out (at minimum) ten of them. I won’t, but I could.

    I have a short crack story I wanted to do about Bandori’s Roselia, where Yukina is introducing her super cool band, but one of the others does something silly and she has to follow up their ridiculous words/actions with “…and we are Roselia”.

    I have a YGO oneshot about Atem and the Thief King dealing with the trials of their afterlife on the way to Aaru. It’s inspired by the split dream plot in the Doctor Who episode “Amy’s Choice”.

    I’ve had another Pokémon Nuzlocke story planned for when I finished my last one, but I haven’t started writing it yet. This time it takes place in Johto, as I played a randomized version of HeartGold for it. The gameplay itself was rather emotional, so I’m really looking forward to writing it. I… just have to… start. Aaaaaaa

    And another Bandori one which is also a sequel to a short series I’ve written. Each chapter takes place on a character’s birthday. Or at least all the major chapters. Considering everything, it means I want to post the first two chapters on March 20th (the twins’ birthday), but with as complex as it all is, I don’t want to wait until March to get started. I like the intricate idea of a SMT/Persona AU, even if I get very little feedback on such things. XD
