Being a trans woman happily married to a cis woman living in the USA I feel like I am living the timeline of a character in V for Vendetta. I watched this movie innumerable in my youth, and it’s always held a special place in my heart as I’ve aged and watched it every year on the 5th of November. Now that I’m coming up on my 3rd year watching it as a Woman and living a life with joy I didn’t know imaginable, I can’t help but reflect on the plot. But every time I do I have an immense out of body influence that I am the wife of the women jailed next to V who was rounded up and taken away first… I have no intention of allowing that to be my fate and if it is my fate I’m oddly at peace with it cause I am finally living and seeing life in full color and at peace with my existence, but I had to get it off my chest, hope you are ok fellow human. :3

I’m sorry it turned out that so many of your fellow Americans are absolute garbage. I hope you and your loved ones come out of this ok.

Australia is at this point a fairly safe place to be trans. I work with people under our NDIS scheme and support one trans woman. She has had a fairly good overall experience with managing her healthcare and getting markers changed etc. Her friend from the USA on the other hand has had a much worse time of things. Her friend is considering moving over here for the sake of safety and honestly I think it may be wise. Good luck

Things are definitely going into that direction. Is there any way you can move somewhere a bit more accepting? I have two trans co-workers here in Bristol, UK, and everyone seems to treat them as well as they treat anyone else. I doubt it’ll last, but I’d say we still have a good 15-20 years. 🤷

I fled DC and moved to the Bluest State that I could that is close to Canada (Minnesota) and I don’t think we would feel any safer in the UK unfortunately. Been focusing on building community and protecting my peace.

Bristol is probably the LGBTQ capital of the UK though so not necessarily the best marker. Especially after that ruling by the Scottish courts that trans women aren’t women.

The UK is a little behind on our rise to fascism compared to the US but it seems like we’re trying hard to catch up. We’re mostly focused on imagrents at the minute from the looks of the national press (which I largely avoid for my sanity).

I’m glad at least some places here are still somewhat sensible and kind to each other.

It’s funny because there are so many LGBTQ people but also so many Muslims and it’s basically a party city, not unsafe and with a good, friendly vibe. Like, I’m quite literally a Muslim immigrant recently married and I have two super chill, stoner trans coworkers who cook some mean food. The city is cool in my recent and incomplete opinion… rent is a bitch, though. 🤣

Scotland is usually good with trans rights. Thats why JK hates Nicola sturgeon.

It was the Uk supreme that overuled the scottish courts.

I’m across the great pond so fairly isolated from the happenings over there. That said… I would absolutely do the most extreme things possible if push came to shove. They want to grab me and put me in a concentration camp? Maybe, but not without taking at least one of the fuckers with me first.

Easily said, I know, but at that point you’d have nothing left to lose anyway…
