No amount of personal change will get you out of it. Getting back with the analogy, we need to change the crony capitalist system. Anything else is just putting a bandaid. If we can fix it, maybe we can even drink in moderation sometimes.
I like the compromise that calls itself “social market economy” (soziale Marktwirtschaft). It’s not just a bandaid. But the fact that its precarious balance often seems to shift too far towards the market economy part would speak for your more radical approach.
