Trump calls for Europe to pay reparations to the US: "We put a big tariff on Europe. They are coming to the table. They want to talk, but there's no talk unless they pay us a lot of money on a yearly basis number one for president but also for past."
I mentioned previously that I think current US policy is a continuation of previous US policy of disrupting and targeting Europe. Ukraine, Nordstream, Greenland, Tariffs, and now this.
The question is whether the strategy is best understood in its continuity (deep state persisting between Trump, Biden, Trump again) or if there is discontinuity that is important to the overall analysis.
Ukraine and Nordstream make sense under the Biden strategy, but I’m not entirely sure to what degree Trump’s neocons are backpedaling on Biden’s overall strategy in Europe. Is it appropriate to lump Greenland and the tariffs in the same framework as Ukraine and Nordstream?
