The answer is, vampires are not rude. You have to invite them for some sucky sucky.

Considering the housing prices and the fact that many people just rent a house instead of it actually belonging to them, I think there’s a good chance you don’t have to.

Your landlord might charge extra for not letting them in though.

Its not a building persay, its based on fae lore iirc. There are a bunch of fucky rules, and it largely depends on their interpretation of what you say. If you say, “you may enter” that may mean that they can enter the entrance youre referring to. Or, it could refer to any property you own such as a car or rv. But if you dont have say over who can enter the property, you cant pet them enter either

Also depends on the rules of the universe. In the Dresden files, for example, places have a defensive aura based on stuff like… homeyness. A house that has been in the family for generations and people have lived there constantly will have a stronger repulsive aura for the fae. Whereas an apartment where a bachelor lives will have a weaker one.

Also stuff can still enter, it’s just that they get considerably weaker or completely powerless if they enter without an invitation.

I also like the Adventure Time interpretation, wherein a vampire will not enter without permission because he views doing so as impolite.
