wonder if that’s partially to obfuscate other cargo (like maybe weapons to israeli occupation) to manufacture consent over outlook on it. ILWU has become right wing zionists for the last two union presidents but used to be anti-war and striked against weapons shipments in their past (and i remember reading the local strikebreaker pigs assigned to California union docks got specific mossad training against such last time there was movement in that way) so these kinds of shipments do pass through their hands. It might coincide that they’d be obstructing shipments that would actually gain huge support for the strikers, so is important to say "look over here! " and threaten the treats.

Yeah it’s wild how easily this could be all avoided if rich people had even the slightest understanding of how a fucking society stays functioning.

The unfortunate consequences of capitalism rewarding the stupidly selfish

Where do the sinisterly selfish people fit into this whole thing? Where are the ghouls and vampires who have a self preservation drive? Every time you look up and watch the people in power it’s the stupidly selfish, dorks, and pedophiles. It’s never the slicked back guido-esque hair with the cross on their neck in black skinny pants and a frilly black blouse who can make a 5 year plan. Do they get outcompeted by an invasive species of dorks?

Capitalism rewards short-term thinking, so dumb ghouls who ignore long-term consequences of their actions outcompete smart ghouls who try to ensure that they stay in power longer.

Do they get outcompeted by an invasive species of dorks?

literally yes. If they don’t cut costs as much as possible for reinvestment and stock buybacks to inflate value some ghoul who will outcompetes and cannibalizes them. Maintaining their personal highfalutin ostentatious lifestyle also includes all of the high-ticket sociopath-networking parties and bribery-and-blackmail backroom events et al. which can cut them out of opportunities and plans and end up with them being stabbed in the back and cannibalized. It’s a world of monsters who have no genuine feelings or genuine human connections and are incapable of ever treating anything as non-transactional, who wet their teeth with the blood spilled from their razor thin margins and climb up on the backs of previous ‘partners’ and ‘friends’ the minute they can. they are inherently self-destructive in all these ways and more; and this fact, along with the fact that the revolutionary proletarian class outnumbers them by astronomic and always-exponentially-increasing amounts is why communism will win; regardless of what shape they leave the planet in, they will fall to those left.

You do NOT need the publics support to win a strike, it makes it easier sure but they can put out all the bad press they want about how treat deliveries will be effected and so long as the ILWU stays strong and holds together they will win concessions (no regular person who wants to buy rick and morty funkopops or whatever is gonna read the AP and blame dockworkers on prices or shortages anyway, they’re watching tiktok and listening to like Joe Rogan)

Apparently, the Western dock worker’s union is not in solidarity with ILWU for some reason and people speculate ILWU will lose because of that. Can someone elaborate?

I did read they were paid 43 percent more

The West Coast workers earn at least an estimated US$116,000 per year, for a 40-hour work week, versus the roughly $81,000 dockworkers at the East Coast and Gulf Coast ports take home, not counting overtime pay.

Boo fucking hoo. Black Friday this year is a bust anyways because people can barely afford food. A major food manufacturer near me elimiated a whole 3rd shift. Which means a whole less demand…for FOOD because people can’t afford to eat!

This affects the treat supply, so this is jokermala’s ball to fumble, or trump-moist could lie (as always) about offering bigly raises to the dock workers and claim that fucking over the working class is just a blue team thing.

    We’ll see.

I think what’s going on may be corporate greed, or a corporate strike. USA won’t be able to fix it, because to address the issue would be too close to the truth. My news feed is full of companies bitching about wages. There trying to fight it thru fucking the customer rather than readjusting their CEO pay.

A potential dockworkers strike could mean product shortages and high prices ahead of the holidays

United States Maritime Alliance refusal to bargain with workers in good faith could mean product shortages and high prices ahead of the holidays
