In recent months, the experts say, Russian forces have increasingly focused on identifying weakened and poorly organized Ukrainian units before breaking through by throwing scores of troops and armored vehicles onto the battlefield.
Too many words to say… basic battlefield tactics.
Early on in the war I heard the BBC talking about how the Russians use airstrikes, artillery and drones and they called it a “cold, calculating, impersonal way of fighting war” and I wanted to scream.
Classic
Say it ain’t so
scores of troops
It’s impressive that they’re still running with the fascist talking point of Russian hordes like the old Soviet hordes.
But also the way many old words have lost their nuance and became merely synonyms to pad out an article. Like a score means 20. I would expect many scores of soldiers in any assault.
I love how they’re trying to frame it as if the Russian army is just discovering how tactics work. I guess they need to pivot away from the Asiatic hordes narrative somehow. 😂
They did the same thing in WWII, the Soviets would find which portions of the Axis lines were manned by Italians or Romanians and concentrate their attack there.
Keeping a relatively high percentage of troops in reserve so they could be redeployed to exploit weak points was a core part of soviet doctrine. When all you have to do to identify a weak point is look at their flag it makes things a lot easier.
Offense in Depth
Yeah kinda! The official name was deep battle or deep operations.
In recent months, the Orcish hordes have shown an alarmingly growing understanding of advanced (for them) military tactics, such as attacking an enemy where he is weaker instead of stronger. Is this evidence that they are beginning to develop basic reasoning skills–a possible step toward sentience–or is it mere animal cunning? Let’s welcome two NATO experts to debate.
such as attacking an enemy where he is weaker instead of stronger
I’m surprised the framing by western media is that this is “tactical” instead of “cowardly” lol.
Here’s how Russia can still lose:

I almost spit out my drink reading that callsign
A series of congenital heart defects strike the Russian army
Sounds like a job for the heart attack gun
The way this article is trying to throw the blame around on individual units being vulnerable to The Meat Grinder is fantastic
whenever I spend a night punching through weakened lines I yell at my dealer to stop stepping on it so hard
yo Dookie, they having a buy one get one sale on Arm & Hammer this week or what?
