Sure. There’s assholes still pissed they lost and had to give up their slaves.
But birthright citizenship today is more about not-actually-illegal people getting to stay here because they were here long enough to put down roots and start a family and those kids being vastly more American than the racist assholes.
The same assholes, in point of fact, that love hiring undocumented migrants for itinerant labor at rates that are in fact illegal because they’re greedy as fuck ghouls.
same with the heirs of current immigrants whose cheap labor continues to bolster the US economy & build wealth for those who already have so much more than they would ever need to live a good life
