    The issue is the power disparity between Canada and the US. In the EU, that power disparity is weakened due to how many countries in the EU and how a few of the countries are somewhat similar in power.

    In North America version of the EU, it would be: Canada, the US, maybe Mexico and a handful of Caribbean countries. The US would dominate the economic agenda as no one would equal the power of the US even if everyone joined together. The most likely outcome would be everyone would a “colony” to the US economic interests.

    Everyone who has lived in the geographic neighbourhood of the US know quite well how US culture has dominated over native culture.
