News@lemmy.world•Proton CEO warns global age verification push will mean "the death of anonymity online"
6·16 days agoI agree with the notion, but I’m mildly concerned with the fragmentation of solutions. We already have I2P, Yggdrasil Network, Gemini Network, the cjdns ecosystem, just to name a few. You can just run nodes on all of them at once, but that restricts accessibility to those who have the raw compute (and bandwidth) necessary, which isn’t exactly conducive to what I’d consider a truly “open” internet, especially in the third world.
“Hey, don’t you love the nature surrounding us, which you are prohibited from interacting with during the length of your contractual obligations with us?”
Aw thank! >w< I tried!
I also missed a few important details though, like the yellow markings on the cheeks and ears of my OC, but I’ll get it down before I print a sticker run.

His theory was certainly expanded upon by a great deal of European thinkers later on, though he provided strong foundations.

1·2 months agoBeing prebuilt isn’t the same as open source! By that metric Linux is closed source because 99.9% of Linux users don’t build their own kernels (and those that do ought to shower anyway).

politics @lemmy.world•Arizona AG suggests state's self-defense laws allow residents to shoot masked ICE agents
1·3 months agoI mean it’s true they have a lot of stuff, but having stuff alone isn’t all you need to have military success. Stuff is just stuff, it stays still until you use it, and it’s useless unless you use it well.
I mean, something something Bay of Pigs, something something Vietnam, so on and so forth…
Every war is won with 10% weapons and 90% logistics, and a pinch of field intelligence. In a domestic conflict, the “territory” is the same for both parties; it’s very hard to defend a logistics system (the “tail” of your military operation) when it’s in the ‘contested’ territory itself. And this is where the direct action comes in (something something Sabo the Cat!)
I mean I think CRTs are going back into vogue as a nifty thing in many indie circles, including on YouTube where you see a lot of smaller creators embracing the aesthetic nowadays.

6·4 months agoA lot of resources to be expended on domestic soil, eventually they’ll run out of both weapons and the very working people they need to keep the economy running to (among other things) keep producing weapons, no?

News@lemmy.world•Walz calls on federal agents to leave state after second deadly shooting
3·4 months agoI mean on the other hand, Trump kind of does want violent resistance to spring up so provide the Reichstag burning he’s been waiting for to amplify the cracking down. I mean, they kinda already had the Charlie Kirk shooting, and he kind of already can institute martial law whenever (it’s not constitutional but neither has been a single thing he’s done lately), and martial law won’t really lead to anything on its own anyway… I dunno, let’s keep resisting in effective ways. One idea is to make ICE’s life hell so they loathe their jobs and go home.

3·4 months agoGun control is a whole can of worms, there’s places where it works, there’s place where it doesn’t, there’s different kinds of cities and also rural area and just… eh this isn’t really the angle you should engage this topic from imo, even if I agree we should self-defensively arming leftists in general.

I think variety of choice and evolution is great. I love the idea of Reticulum, though I haven’t seen much outside of it. My thesis is that these efforts would be best concerted somehow, rather than in isolation, so that their usage can benefit each other multiplicatively.
