The central Chinese government has over 90% support, with majority satisfaction in all areas. I’m sure you don’t need an explanation as to why a small group of people who left the country are not an adequate litmus test for the level of satisfaction of the whole country (both in terms of sample size and response bias, the two of which complement each other). You know absolutely nothing about the CPC (of which the general direction of the country is determined, with a composition of 10% of the overall population, and a policy of mass-line decision making, from the bottom to the top in regards to the decision of promotion through each strata and top to bottom in relation to decisions carried out through unified agreements and criticism), nor the government, of which in either case all positions are voted in by the populace without capitalist infiltration of interests that plagues bourgeois national and local elections.
But, most people in many “free” and educated countries understand that the citizens of China are not “free”.
Ah, like the United States, with both a higher per-capita incarceration rate and total number of prisoners compared to China (per-capita statistics are generally used when comparing the U.S. and PRC since the former has a fourth of the population of the latter, making the U.S.’s higher total number of prisoners even more obscene)and a higher per-capita concentration of police officers by a wide margin.
No matter how fucked up things are in the U.S…many people need to realize that countless others lives aren’t remotely as “free” as our illusion.
Sure, let’s talk about Afghanistan, North Korea, Chile, Guatemala, Iran, and so on. Ah but their lack of freedom and prosperity was set in place by the U.S.
The first link is to a paper by Domenico Losurdo titled, “Towards a Critique of the Category of Totalitarianism” (since I was responding to a comment which used this term as a category of government including China destined to oppress minorities). I included a temporary PDF link, but you can find it online pretty easily.
