I’m surprised at how hard seeing Max again hit me. I don’t have much interest in playing a new LiS game, but I still got unreasonably emotional dredging up memories of the first game.

Do people really expect it to be anything other than just more GTA? The bar doesn’t seem to be set that high.

That’s a franchise I didn’t see getting rebooted again. I’m intrigued, it’s got a very Square Enix Deus Ex vibe coming from the abilities shown off but it could really easily just be linear mandatory stealth section set piece stuff.

What are your thoughts on polyamory?

If they are polyamorous, it’s a no. If they have been polyamorous before but say they’re looking for a monogamous relationship this time, also no. If they use the term “ethical non-monogamy” in a positive way, even if they claim they’re monogamous, straight in the fucking bin.

I played it a couple of years ago, before a lot of the patches, and still thought it was one of the better games I have never finished.

It’s not that it’s CGI that really bothered me, it’s that it’s not good CGI. I got the same feeling watching the trailer as I did the Hobbit.

It might not be the right thing to say publicly, but it’s absolutely something they should be concerned about internally. It’s fucking astonishing how many man hours went into Starfield for such a hollow final product.

Far from everyone, the game was born out of war gaming so maps and minatures have always been big in the community. I personally see theater of the mind more often these days than when I started.

I was making posts on it a little while ago while I was in the high highs of Season 2, but I have to be honest the later half was kind of disappointing on rewatch.

Jool’s super scream every episode she’s in of Season 3 caused me actual pain. I’m a little sensitive to sound, but even if you’re not this is still the most annoying shtick for a character ever imagined. John is also no longer devolving into madness, now he’s angsty and it’s a lot less entertaining. The one real standout episode is the one where D’Argo and John have to rescue Jool and Chiana after a bender. I have some problems with it, but the dynamic between the boys is very fun.

Season 4 ditches Jool, which is a huge plus, but the show is clearly running out of ideas at this point. It’s much lower energy and it’s recycling a lot of earlier stuff. John strapping a nuclear bomb to himself is a great moment, but it is just a moment in an otherwise pretty underwhelming three parter. This season is also the most problematic of the bunch. Rape, transphobia and the episode where it’s revealed D’Argo was a wife beater, but it’s okay because he didn’t kill her.

I never really liked frell as a replacement for fuck honestly, the sound is a little too round to put energy behind it. Was best when it was used in a sort of defeated, resigned reaction to things getting worse. Because of course it’s getting worse.

The swears from Expanse’s lang belta are my favourite, ya lik pashang! Easily the most creative of sci-fi swear replacements, the intent still carries through clearly to the viewer and they have good range. Though it wasn’t used to escape censors.

Frak from BSG gets points for still being able to convey the same range as fuck, but loses them all for being the least creative.

The worst is the next rung up from “small business owner”. The guy who might own a few small business and/or some investment properties. Still an ant in the eye of the Amazons of the world, but has vastly more power to victimize a larger number of people.

These are always the most fucking disgusting, pathetic, annoying and cruel people I have met. They brag about all the awful shit they do to people and they get away with it. Rapists, thieves and wife beaters the lot of them, but actually having the money to shield them from any blowback in the way the petty tyrant who just owns like a restaurant or something does not.

I have used a check. I’m more likely to be able to get a mortgage and buy a house than to be accepted for a rental again, though I’ll likely die before paying it off. I still keep a fair amount of actual cash at home “just in case”.

Imagine a time before instant communications, where you have no idea how life has treated the recipient since you last saw them and it might take months for your letter to arrive. It is a sincere hope that they are well and that tradgedy has not befallen them.

It would be neurotic and unreasonable if your last update on their life was only days or even hours before, but in the days of letters hope is really all you had. It’s just honest.
