Opiates sound like a no go for you.
Benzos (anti-anxiety meds): Diazepam, Clonazepam, Alprazolam. Anything that is a -zepam or a -zolam is probably a similar type of drug (ofc, don’t take anything you don’t for sure recognize)
Not sure if you could find this in a pharmacy, but ketamine therapy is a thing, so you might be able to get one of the nasal sprays of it. Heard that is a fun time.

procapra@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's up with this straight up pro-china and pro-russia stuff on Lemmy lately?4·3 days agoI appreciate your correction Davel. I’ve seen some of your posts/comments in the past and they have always been informative on this topic.
I understand western notions of prisons paint ugly pictures of grey walls and metal bars so if they are given that much autonomy during the process, maybe that term was misleading and I apologize.
I do take issue with the hypothetical terrorist rebuttal though, because the same thing can be applied to the US policies. Yes, we did have terrorist attacks done against us. That doesn’t mean that every person we locked up as a terrorist was one.
You might have the trust that China is telling the truth and isn’t doing something similar, that’s a valid enough position to have. Im still not personally convinced.

She is a terrible person, motivated by her terrible opinions, who happened to (for entirely different reasons) have a somewhat decent take on israel and aipac. This person was talking about fucking jewish space lasers like 5 years ago. She isn’t trustworthy, she isn’t woke, stop humanizing her.
Just pick one, if she doesn’t like it try the other, and if she does like it and gets proficient at it, maybe she can try the other later on. Really can’t go wrong here. I knew plenty of kids when I was in school who had done multiple combat sports and martial arts over the years.
You can become black belt in most martial arts as young as 15-16 (assuming you have the skills required). I can imagine that kinda achievement being a core childhood memory. 10 years of hardwork being rewarded!

procapra@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's up with this straight up pro-china and pro-russia stuff on Lemmy lately?10·6 days agoI agree that treatment seems a non issue, but from what I’ve seen the social stigma is incredibly significant. I forget their handle, but there was a trans man on rednote that had alot to say about the stigma in his part of china. That isn’t to say the US is any better though.
procapra@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's up with this straight up pro-china and pro-russia stuff on Lemmy lately?18·6 days agoChina’s claim is that anything that is being done is being done to combat islamic fundamentalist groups/extremists. This seems to be backed up by international support from Muslim countries.
Genocide claims were always unfounded. However, no matter how nice the guided tours of reeducation facilities look, they are still in effect prisons, and we of course don’t know about the things that we aren’t being shown.
If your position on the topic is anything more than “They may or may not be treated that good”, you have information that nobody else has.
I use Debian as my main distro. Ive played with stable, testing, and unstable over the past few years. I’m confident Trixie is perfectly fine for stable. It looked fine the last few months I used it in testing.
If old stable didn’t impress you, Trixie isn’t gonna be any different. The hype is just because a release happened, we don’t get those in Debian land very often.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think they are a communist utopia either, and I think people get carried away hyping them up. I just don’t think arguing about it is a hill worth dying on.
If you move to Linux, you gotta be committed. I didn’t learn Linux until I said “fuck it” and forced myself to use it exclusively.
You will run into problems. You’ll have some days where you’ll spend 10hrs fixing something that no other person on the entire planet has encountered before, only to realize you needed to type in 1 very simple command to fix it.
As much as people hate AI, it can help with Linux troubleshooting. There’s also wikis and manpages.
If you switch at all, pick something that won’t break. Debian will run on your hardware just fine. You won’t have the latest and greatest packages, and as a newbie you DO NOT WANT the latest and greatest.
Nvidia drivers are a hassle, be prepared.
If all that sounds doable, send it.
It will crash if you max out your ram and have 0 swap, in the same way your windows system will crash if you have 0 page file.
In recent years its become really trendy to just not use swap on linux and it pisses me off to no end. Its a horrible configuration all to save like 1% of your diskspace.
edit: Also, most distros out of the box do use significantly less than windows. My debian testing xfce install that I just did here a few days ago uses 700mb on a cold boot.

Israel is not “the Jews”. These crimes are Israel’s and its supporters, not the crimes of Jews.
You sound absolutely nuts.
Left unity and right unity are both mythical unicorns that do not exist except for momentary periods in history.
Even amongst various “leninist” ideologies there are significant strategic differences and different ideas for what socialism itself looks like.
There are like, 100s of different Nazi, fascist, and Christian-Nationalist groups in the US. They don’t get along either, even if their ideologies have considerable overlap.
Both sides will temporarily put aside their differences to have protests, rallys, etc, but those are temporary.
Even among leftists, the AES countries are a sore subject. Most leftcoms, libcoms, trots, hoxhaists, and maoists are critical of places like the DPRK (if they don’t just outright reject them in their entirety.)

Sorry if I was grouchy.
If I had to guess on why people get issues during updates I’d say it’s because they add a million third-party repos that point to the specific version of Debian they were running and now that they’ve upgraded they’ve got tons of outdated packages from those repos fudging up their system.
