I look at the docs, see another tool yet again asks to curl | bash to install it, and sob.

Canada@lemmy.ca•B.C. cities can set their own time zones, province saysEnglish
12·3 months agoHonestly we should add more timezones. How about a half hour offset for Vancouver Island to mirror NST!

1·4 months agoI heard they’re going to delay new groceries until the ban on old groceries comes into effect.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Telus Starts 2026 With Price Increases Slipped Into Customer BillsEnglish
2·5 months agoGlad to have switched to a third party provider, even if they’re using Telus lines for fibre.
Took me 2 hours to cancel my out of contract services, and 15 minutes to sign up with the new provider. 🫠

Gaming@lemmy.zip•[Eurogamer] KTC M27P6 monitor review: 4K 160Hz Mini LED for the masses, not the classesEnglish
1·6 months agoI just returned the 1440p version of this monitor (m27t6) and if you’re on linux you might have to force vrr via edid tweaks. Slightly annoying if you’re on wayland.
With the tweak or natively enabled in windows it would have vertical scanlines at lower framerates which I don’t think I’ve seen before.
Hopefully the 4k version is better because it was surprisingly nice otherwise.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Sentry gets improved crash reporting for games running via Proton / Wine on SteamOS / LinuxEnglish
9·6 months agosome games prompt you for bug reporting data collection, this is usually connected to sentry.
You can block their domain on a dns level (i think *.sentry.io would work?), or if the developer has their dsn (the url used for reporting metrics) exposed in a config file, you can probably blank it out without too much trouble.
always close your toilet lid before npm installing!

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Apple forgot to disable production source maps on the App Store web appEnglish
12·7 months agoiirc Apple music’s web ui also has sourcemaps, but I’m not subbed to apple music anymore to check. Its neat, but not really a huge blunder, nor takedown worthy.
Worth moving the usb cable or wireless dongle to a different usb port. I found my DAC needed an entire usb controllers worth of bandwidth.
After that it showed up without issue.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Is this the best place to post questions about these retro emulation handhelds?English
3·8 months agoI’ve got the retroid flip 2, and really enjoying tinkering with it more than I expected! (need to plug my wip postmarket os port: https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/oopsallnaps/pmaports/-/commits/rpflip2)
I must say though it feels so…cheap to hold. I don’t know what it is about the plastic body 😅)
Otherwise really enjoying a separate sdcard with rocknix loaded and balatro ported.

34·8 months agoI’m surprised there’s no source code available. You think that would be a no brainer move after the original servers shut down. 😅

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What is the current state of Matrix?English
4·9 months agoI use https://github.com/spantaleev/matrix-docker-ansible-deploy which makes it pretty painless to self host on a vpc with Synapse as the server.
I don’t have federation setup, since I just use it with friends. So besides running the update command once a week, I don’t even think about maintaince.

18·1 year agoI’m not sure if I would consider today’s Unity being an upgrade from UE2. 🤔
But considering how 90% of the game is in UnrealScript, they should probably just write an interpreter in Unity so that existing mods have a better chance at working.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•First server: Buying hardware in a developing countryEnglish
1·1 year agolol! Well its always a good idea to see if what you currently have works well enough. Then splurge on the fun…i mean expensive things. But that doesn’t always work, so I hope the new parts serve you well!
One last thing to note, Jellyfin doesn’t have the best authentication coverage. iirc its possible to leak some metadata about videos, music, etc… I’d recommend either not keeping the server public facing (i.e. use a vpn to connect to it remotely) or don’t store anything personally identifying on it.
I just tunnel my traffic through tailscale, while annoying at times has been reliable. But I’m not sure thats available in Brazil.

Glad to see some sims competition, but not sure that art style is for me.
