there are usually spots that the cameras don’t reach. just small little blind spots, where at least they can perhaps only see you from one angle. you can wander calmly around the shop, take those things to the area you have scoped out and stash them.

and don’t steal from ur local shop. if ur caught u are more likely to get banned than have them call the cops on u. then u can’t go into ur local shop and buy things when u have to.

not all shops have people actively monitoring the cameras. they are mostly for deterrence. try not to get caught on camera but it’s not the end of the world if you do.

avoid shops with security guards if possible. at least in my neck of poor europe, most shops don’t have them. mostly shop workers won’t stop you, and if they try to they mostly won’t do anything other than ask you to turn back. when i worked in a shop we were actually told not to engage anyone physically. be very nice to everyone who works in the shops u pick, since workers who like you are less likely to do anything to stop you. and yk be nice to workers generally.

avoid shops in commercial districts where there are likely to be cops patrolling outside. the one time i got caught it was cuz there were cops on the street outside.

i never had a worst movie before this one, but dragged across concrete.

watching it feels like being dragged across concrete and i have no idea how this ever got released. its not so much a movie as a laundry list of complaints about wokeness and minorities written by a nazi. it has no plot and very little in the way of characters beyond racial stereotypes. i didn’t seed on principle.

the file was corrupted a few minutes before the end, and it could not have come sooner. i can’t believe we managed to get so far through it.

it’s kind of interesting, you can see how the director gradually goes off the rails throughout his movies. the previous 2 are not good movies, and they’re pretty bad in terms of reactionary BS. but they were movies. the mask was still on. but dragged across concrete is simply not a movie.

i’ve tried so many different SSRIs and SNRIs

they have all had 0 useful effect on me. i’ve experienced side effects; digestion issues are the most common. i got uncontrollable leg shaking from one of them. i’ve never experienced any withdrawal symptoms coming off them, but for most people they are quite bad.

when i was a kid i was put on fluoxetine, and it was just as unhelpful. i wanted to stop and they wouldn’t let me, so a few months in, i quit them myself. some months later, my mother commented on how much better i seemed, how well the medication was working. i told her i hadn’t been taking it, and she didn’t believe me.

i’m now at a point where i absolutely refuse to touch them. the only thing that has actually had an impact on depression for me is ketamine.

I lived in the UK for years. I went to oppose fascist marches many times. It was violent, like seriously fucking dangerous. I have been hurt. I hurt fash. I wore a fucking helmet and they threw rocks and bottles at us, my helmet was hit and fucking saved my life. After the marches the fash would break up into smaller groups to roam the streets and attack minorities. We did our best to protect people. I’m not saying this to look cool. Truth was I was scared out of my mind and I don’t know if I can ever go back to that kind of thing. I’m saying it because I absolutely believe that what is going on now must be like that, but so much worse. That place has only gotten worse in the 4 years since I left.

This has been brewing for literal decades at this point. There was a contingent of anti-europe people in the conservative party, way back before brexit. they were a small voice calling for it. but even then, more subtly, they had been putting their fingers into the culture and brewing anti-immigrant, anti-muslim, and anti-EU sentiment. When this group got loud enough to threaten the integrity of the conservative party, Pigfucker David Cameron called the brexit referendum, expecting it to fail, as a way to shut up the rightwing of the party. But instead that proved to be the catalyst for the fascist sentiments in the UK to be brought into the mainstream. This was when the tactics I associate with fascism truly started to feel like they were integrated into british society. Facts stopped mattering to people. Hate crime went up. Hell I got violently attacked.

As far as I know, there was some russian influence on Brexit. I don’t mean that russia caused this current situation - absolutely not, they only have the utter disaster of the past few decades to blame. They utterly failed to contain the rise of fascism. But I believe a nuanced and fact-based take is that Russia thought that Brexit would be politically useful to them, and used social media to support that. It probably would have happened anyway, the force from this didn’t come from russia but from some scheming british fascists.

I also wanna say that I’m not saying the EU is a good thing. It’s an inherently white supremacist institution “protecting” fortress europe against the desperate people at the borders. But the way british culture and politics work, and indeed this is true of a bunch of countries’ far right, opposing EU membership was a predominantly fascist position, and considering everything that has happened in that hellhole of a country since brexit, i do think it would be better if it had never left.

edit: thank u to those who have thanked me for what i used to do. but i was just doing my job as a human being, among many others, resisting people who have forgotten their humanity. maybe one day i will be able to, or have to, do it again.

i feel like this really showcases the problems inherent to liberalism, in terms of its inability to mount an adequate response to fascism. most actual leftists are immediately going to see the pronouns for what they are, and exclude that person for either being bad faith, or being reactionary. but libs just can’t seem to get their heads around the idea that yes, identity is important and should be supported, but not when it literally just hurts other people.

i’m perfectly capable of respecting someone i don’t understand, or disagree with. but i’m also capable of telling the difference between that and a reactionary and i have no interest in tolerating the latter.

forcing people to capitalise the pronoun “you” is absolutely nothing to do with gender. there is a huge difference between using a pronoun for someone that you feel could sound dehumanising (and for what it’s worth, i use it primarily because it was used as a slur towards me when i was younger) and requiring people to treat another person like a deity or a dom. it’s not a me problem, it’s abusive behaviour. i have absolutely no problem with neopronouns or xenogenders and have come out to support xenos many times. this is not that.

this is why you need politics in a community. i’m not talking about just political communities, but a political direction to your moderation. you’re suffering from a paradox of tolerance. you’re tolerating - and enforcing the toleration of - abusive behaviour because you lack the political instinct to see what is wrong with it. that makes this instance unsafe for trans people.

are you going to tolerate that? this may be more subtle but it is ultimately no different. ultimately you’re right. i did find my experience here frustrating, and i also found it pretty frustrating watching my partner, who was more active here, suffer through all this bullshit. we’ve both left, as have a number of others, and i hope you’re happy that your decisions have forced out so many trans people from your supposedly safe community. i’m not expecting you to change your ways at this point, but seriously. this is fucked up, and your openness is being exploited. i feel bad for the people here.

well thank you for clarifying and doing this much, i guess. but frankly this hasn’t been a safe place, none of this situation has been okay and i’m extremely not comfortable with grail’s behaviour as well. i’ve moved to hexbear despite my political differences with them and they’re honestly creating a far safer and more welcoming space for me as an anarchist and trans person. like seriously sort this place out if you want it to be safe for trans people. it currently is not.
