You could actually tell who a lot of the hidden checks were because they were ranked high up in the replies but had practically no engagement.
I kinda wouldn’t recommend distros downstream of the big guys for new users because if they go down that road, they’re going to get into terrain they don’t know how to read. They won’t be able to tell a shady or poorly supported project from something more serious.
Also, small downstream distros are harder to troubleshoot for newbies when there’re issues, because there’re fewer people answering questions.

A big part of the appeal for me is that it’s NOT temporary and not something you have to tend to every day like makeup. You just wake up and your aesthetic is already partially complete, no effort. It doesn’t smudge when you’re active and doesn’t have an awkward stage where it’s partially coming off.
Doing makeup every day is enough of a pain in the ass that people who normally wouldn’t get tattoos sometimes get tattooed eyeliner.

I get why folks say “the left needs to open their arms to converts,” but kind of unmoored behavior is why people need to be cautious.
People can have unexamined views and maybe have a big shift once in their life. But once you have a foundation, and have learned some empathy, you shouldn’t find yourself swinging wildly in your beliefs… maybe just in your approach. But there’s people out there treating life and other people’s material condition like a boardgame on a made up board and picking up movements because they like the aesthetics. And I’m so annoyed when people suggest I always have to take it seriously.
I’m probably preaching to the choir here. But I find this kind of flippant behavior towards real struggle to be the absolute worst. You’re not picking microgenres off of spotify, this shit affects people.

The demiurge is a better solve to the problem of evil than anything orthodox christianity has to offer. That elegance makes it attractive. But as someone else mentioned it’s antithetical to materialism and ultimately not of any real use.
