6·17 hours agoI just hate these soft-language bait headlines when reporting on scientific studies. If the article was “going from shitty fast food diet to plant-based shitty fast food diet results in statistically healthier outcomes”, that would be interesting and newsworthy. But the whole “doing this thing may affect other thing” allows the reader to apply their biases to whatever they’re reading.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a big internal debate within a fandom or hobby you are a part of that outsiders probably wouldn't care about?
2·2 days agoYeah almost all we do is short form (I know, I know) so we do game after game. Sometimes we just start with one word and raw dog it, but that’s rare in a show.

3·2 days agoI mean it always starts with the game, right? That’s what we do. Then get platform or characters as gets. I didn’t realize it was possible not to start with game, as it lays the framework to create the scene.
You know it when you see it.

I mean, they’re shipping this stuff halfway around the world so that you can get a summer fruit in the dead of winter. Some produce is much easier to preserve than others; apples and oranges can have their ripening arrested using nitrogen and controlled atmosphere. Others can be picked green and ripen on the way (bananas). But with some fruits like raspberries, not a whole lot can be done besides refrigeration. Those berries have lots of nooks and crannies for bacteria and spores to nuzzle in and proliferate. If they could figure out a way to make those berries last longer, believe me they would. They end up throwing away a lot because they rot on the shelves, costing them a lot of money.
Why not just a baseball bat?

I have an old tennis racquet that I keep on the deck when I’m outside. That thing can fuck up some carpenter bees.
