  • Yet another thing that tens of millions of people across the country would instantly lose their job for, made even MORE ok for the people who can cause the most damage by doing it. Every corporate conflict of interest training I’ve taken at current companies makes it abundantly clear that even the APPEARANCE of a POTENTIAL conflict needs to be disclosed and handled appropriately. Never mind there being literal, in writing, cash money kickbacks.

When it comes to having lower standards for state officials given special powers than we do for random schmucks, at least we’re consistent. From the lowest local cop to the highest federal politicians, why do we not only refuse to set standards but also remove ethical expectations?

but how does it get lift if it is prevented from accelerating from 0 to 1 km/h of ground speed

That’s the thing - it is not prevented from accelerating. The wheels are functionally frictionless. That’s why planes have brakes. The plane pushes on the air to move, & the treadmill could accelerate backwards until the plane’s tires explode.

If my valuable assets force me into the top 100 (more likely than not), I’ll hire somebody to find good charities to prop up.

If I stumble into the top 10 billion/trillion-aires, go ahead and do what you gotta do and remind my widow to do nice things with the estate.

  • I think you’re probably right, but I also suspect that the upvote button avoids a lot of “this” and “you are so right” replies burying the substantive ones. It’s certainly kept me from making low value or redundant replies in the past.

It’s also interesting to occasionally scroll though my post history and see which comments struck a nerve with fellow lemmings. It’s a secondary simplified version of the social interactions and discussions here.

  • Paragraph 1: “bad faith” is arguing or acting in an intellectually dishonest way. Like if I were to say this paragraph was written in bad faith, I might accuse you of knowing the term has nothing to do with religion yet still trying to shoehorn it into this whole “religion of LGBT” thing you have going.

    Paragraph 2: wat

I think the word you’re looking for is culture. You know, the thing where people share ideas and traditions as a group.

And comparing symbols of individual acceptance that certain people are OK to exist with government mandated displays of religion mandated rules seems strange. Almost “both sides.” Almost bad faith.
