It’s a case by case thing of course but incendiaries are also an option sometimes and these are laughably easy to make. Strategically placed near fire exits the results could be devastating.

A lot of people are ignorant in the sense that they do care but they don’t want to educate themselves. They rather make up their own assumptions based on what fits the narrative they’ve chosen for their lives after receiving the bare minimum of input.
I understand “Ignorance is bliss” as a reminder to focus on what’s right in front of you and not to concern yourself too much with things you can’t change. That’s pretty much the opposite of what a lot of ignorant people do.

(US)English51·13 hours agoTimes are looking tough right now but the pendulum can swing back at any moment. And when it does we won’t be starting back at square one. Might be a few years and a few wars until then. Maybe just an arms race and the odd proxy war. No way to know. All we can do is resist and wait.
Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you started doing arbitrarily that's been really positive for you? English8·21 hours agoMy sons sobriety began with a cat.
My healing journey also started with really being there for my cat. It might sound weird to the uninitiated but she’s taught me a lot.
Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you started doing arbitrarily that's been really positive for you? English9·1 day agoI live in the pedestrian zone of a semi large city. I feed them from my window and there are no other birds in the area that they could drown out. Except crows maybe but those are much louder.
Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you started doing arbitrarily that's been really positive for you? English271·1 day agoFeeding pigeons first thing in the morning. I have a reason to get out of bed and something to look forward to every day.
I’ve never seen one with this much depth. Pretty neat.
I think it’s just that different people have different preferences. I don’t like musicals nor concerts of any kind simply because I prefer picking the music I want to listen to myself. Plus I usually prefer the studio version to live. And seeing other fans having fun doesn’t emotionally move me one way or the other. So at the end of the day I’d be paying a lot of money for a most likely lackluster evening as I have many times before accepting that it’s just not for me.

(Sign-up, form, downloads, etc.)English6·1 day agoSo apart from the websites that are purely based around being obnoxious so you’ll subscribe to their premium plan I’d say GitHub has been the least intuitive place to navigate for me.

Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your harmless/low-stakes conspiracy theory?English188·1 day agoThis one is kinda well known but I’ve only recently started educating myself about the subject and came to the same conclusion:
Plants and mushrooms are much, much more effective at healing physical as well as mental diseases than most people think but the powers that be don’t want us to grow our own medicine so they claim everything is either ineffective or dangerous compared to what you can buy at a pharmacy.
No, that’s UDF. You’re thinking of the convenience store manager from the Simpsons.
Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.orgto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is possible to learn to swim, just by reading a lot about it?English2·1 day agoI’ve taught myself to ride a longboard by watching a ton of videos and memorizing what you need to bear in mind. I was able to get on it myself and ride around town first try. Maybe the videos just gave me enough confidence to try it and I would have had it in me anyway. But I do think they helped quite a lot with technique too. Not sure how that tranfers to swimming. I learned that like most Europeans, by being chucked into deep water.
Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.orgto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can you see magic eye pictures?English4·2 days agoYeah I just relax my eyes and then focus the book without moving my line of sight
Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.orgto Technology@beehaw.org•I’m not ignoring your message – I’m overwhelmed by the tyranny of being reachableEnglish4·2 days agoI recently disabled any and all notifications on my phone except calls, SMS, and emergency alerts. No more social media bullshit telling me I got a new like, no more useless groupchats blowing up my phone, no more ad emails with deceptively important sounding subjects. Unless I’m checking manually of course - which I do once or twice a day. Other than that it’s pure bliss all day every day. If you can I urge you to try it too.
In or up?
In another timeline prime minister Jimmy Savile just inspected his new concentration camp in Liverpool (arguably England’s Florida).
