My local counselors and mayors do not use english at all, so I know “political correctness” and “woke” only as english phenomena from media.

Personally I have mixed feelings.

On one side - I consider being polite to be basic decency.

On the other side - I feel like this “do not call it murder, call it unaliving” and such are just lies by omission of a word.

But doesn’t “politically correct” means not saying nasty truths? Like saying that Trump just “abused kids” instead “raped kids”.

The Australian Subreddits got overrun by extremist right wing people who tend to be 20x louder than anyone else, and exaggerate everything.

Where I live there are only two opinions about USA:

1. USA is shiny utopia where everyone is rich, and no hardship can be found.

2. USA is a dumpster fire no different from Russia or China.

American natives are just a funky idea from fantasy land for both sides.

As a fellow senior dev - I have lived through more “devs made obsolete” snake oil techs than fit on three bits.

Maybe get rid of parties altogether? They already have one representative per state, why not go with that and elect one of them a president?

Honestly I don’t think it can. In USA there is this shit called “law of precedence” and also there is this precedence that means companies are liable in court if they don’t prioritize shareholder profit.

Any reform that could possibly work must probably start with outlawing stock markets and loans.

If it’s their work - yes. If someone profits from that - hell yes.

Hobbies don’t need to be paid, but work should.

Sane people do stuff for a reason. Remove the reason, remove the action they would take.

Like for example remove pay and any sane person will stop working.
