Corporations. Ok, so that’s out of my responsibility then, since I don’t buy anything from corporations. Good to know.
That’s not true, clearly an apostrophe means: “watch out, here comes an s!”
Companies should be held accountable for bullshit like that.
My idea goes like this: In order to be able to sell some device you need to deposit its source code and the sources for all updates with the proper authorities.
If you then don’t provide updates maintaining a) security and b) functionality of said device, because for example you go bankrupt, financially, or like in this very case morally, all of those sources are released and from then on are open source.
Put some windex tasmota on it
It wasn’t his poetry that first contained “Lick my arse”, Götz says it in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s play “Götz von Berlichingen”
Well, that’s because they probably know one of the ports is Thunderbolt one plain USB.
USB-C only appears to make things easier, actually it’s all fucked up, sure the ports are the same, but you have no chance of determining what’s behind it by just looking at it.
But surely there’s the advantage of only needing one type of cable? Well, only if you’re willing to spend extraordinary amounts on your cables, there’s a reason for the extreme price differences. You don’t know if all the pins are connected, the shielding may be different and if you choose wrong power rating, your cable may overheat. So to sum up: you still need different cables, but now they’re undistinguishable.
Welcome to the world of tomorrow!
You seem to think that a philosopher’s job is to make stoned guys go woah
While we can’t unasshole everyone we can start ticketing ppl who park outside the lines. In most cities there’s traffic wardens anyways, so that should be cheaper than installing bumpers on every parking spot.
It’s a very emotional thing for many of us. I’ve beed using reddit on sync exclusively, I just couldn’t be arsed to use the web version any more.
So when they killed third party apps, reddit was dead to me. Not only because of the terrible user experience of the web site and official app, but mostly because of the way they treated the developers after all those years.
After the lemmy version came out, I opened it up and everything was back to normal (except for the missing content).
I’m really hoping that the devs of other apps succeed in the transition as well and they manage to get a good portion of their users to join as well.
As for the FOSS fundamentalists: I really don’t get it. I’ve worked on open source projects in the past, when I felt I could contribute. I don’t get all the hate being directed towards sync though. You like your FOSS-app? Great! I prefer sync and I’m happy to support the author.
Just checked: oldest account i still have is 16 years old.
there’s a pill for that
