Specifically, it’s any peer-to-peer (P2P) connections that utilize a port that’s not open by default on your router. P2P connections that need forwarding are used in services like PC gaming (usually in older titles or some indie games), VoIP, torrenting, etc.
If you’re doing a peer-to-peer (P2P) related activity, port forwarding is very important for improving speed or enabling the service at all. That’s because your router blocks incoming traffic from certain ports by default, ports that are used for a P2P connection. To get around this, you can ‘forward’ the specific port that is used for the P2P activity you’re using, letting your router know that the traffic you expect to see from a specific port is good to let through.
You can simply leave port forwarding to your personal router, but if you want to stay anonymous while participating in P2P connections, then you’ll want to use a VPN service. If a VPN service doesn’t utilize port forwarding, then any P2P connections you use will either be straight up impossible, or very slow over the VPN. The P2P service you’re attempting to use needs to access a specific port on the VPN’s router, which needs forwarding to work properly. For example, you wanted to host a gaming server without giving away your actual IP address, then a VPN with port forwarding is desirable. The same can be said for torrenting.
TL;DR: VPNS with port forwarding matter if you want to stay anonymous while using P2P services.
There is a difference between criminal law and civil law. Yes, you can get sued for self-defense in civil court in Texas: https://www.walkertaylorlaw.com/sued-for-self-defense-in-texas/
At least as far as criminal law goes. However, I’ve heard of some pretty wacky situations where defending your home like this can result in some civil liability.
Exactly, it’d be great if said drivers had some compelling alternative to get around.
Karl is the feeling you get when you mine some gold or smash a bug’s head in.
Did I hear a Rock and Stone???
I never even suggested we let them do whatever we want.
That doesn’t mean we provoke them into using their nukes.
Using that logic they can do whatever they want, as long as they back up their ‘want’ with nukes.
I think there are things we should never let them do, even under threat of nukes. Muscovy needs hard red lines, else they’d just annex everything. Got to call their nuke bluff from time to time.

I kinda get it. I get interrupted by so much random bullshit during the work week, focusing on projects is hard. Much easier to browse social media at work, respond to email, get out occasionally to do chores, etc. Some light productivity, but deeper concentration is hard.
Friday is usually my go-to project day. People tend to leave me alone enough so I can actually dig in. I’m content with my current situation so I don’t feel a need to work on weekends, but I can totally see how that might be more enjoyable. Not working the entire weekend, just a few hours on Saturday morning where no one will fucking bother me. Could probably get so much more shit done in way less time.
And allowing witnesses to be intimidated is like allowing trump to have a Javelin in your tank analogy. For the cases to be prosecuted correctly, the necessary witnesses need to give their testimony without fear of retaliation. He needs to be put into pre-trail detainment.
What is it actually going to take to put this fucker in jail? Does he need to intimidate 20 witnesses first? I hate that the justice system feels they need to walk on eggshells around this wanna-be dictator cry baby.
Obviously they were inspired by the left handed devil.
Weird, link is working for me. Is it still down for you?
In addition to our ability to throw shit, humans also have some of the best endurance that mammals have to offer. An example of this is the Human V Horse race in Wales. The race is a 22-mile / 35-kilometer marathon that takes place in mountainous terrain. Normally, a horse would beat a human in a race without a problem. But in a marathon, humans actually stand a chance with an occasional victor in this specific annual race. All due to our exceptional endurance.
Put the projectiles and endurance together, and we make for a terrifying hunter. Imagine you’re some other animal out in the wild. Maybe you’re really fast or really strong. But if a determined human really wants to try and kill you, there’s no out-running it. It’ll catch up eventually. And if you choose to fight the human, they’ll get the first blow.
What, that humans are freakishly good at throwing things, or that aliens don’t have the ability to throw things?
It looks like the previous dev diary is tackling some of the worst aspects of the warfare system. Patch 1.4 is going to address convoy raiding, and patch 1.5’s open beta (which releases at the same time as 1.4) is going to look into merging frontlines. Plus the addition of new diplomatic sways, reverse-sways, and some changed behavior regarding imperialistic AI, it’s all looking like some excellent changes are coming down the pipeline.
These changes are really needed too. I want to love Victoria 3, but imho it just feels like it came out a full year too early. Too many things getting in the way of the satisfying economic sim they managed to build. Hopefully 1.4 and 1.5 aren’t too far away, and they’re successful.
I’ve only been able to attend a few sessions with an autistic adult focused therapist, and it was very helpful. They did a great job of prioritizing what we could tackle from week-to-week and it was instrumental for me getting my first job after college.
Which is the other thing that would be really great, some kind of resource that could help autistic adults with the job application process. Mostly with how to interact with recruiters, how to set expectations, and specialized interview prep.
