Yeah there seems to be some disagreement in the diaspora particularly around Jimmy BBQ and his alliance of gangs in Port au Prince. The former cop turned revolutionary or just using that rhetoric. At worst an opportunist and at best a lumpen revolutionary subject. Lavalas , Aristead’s party, has been somewhat discredited given it’s participation in the transitianal council while Aristead himself is more focused on education initiatives as of late. The G9 alliance did take over the airport to prevent the Kenyan “peace keeping force” from coming in. There’s a sham transitional government council that won’t allow any participants who reject the peace keeping force, that is seen as the US outsourcing an occupation in black face - and given the track record of the Brazilian UN peace keeping force (which shamefully was under a PT government), it would be a very bad thing.
Biden and the absolute Vlad both, rock them aviators
"The US government, which appears to be out of Haiti’s internal affairs, threatened the coalition of criminal gangs that is keeping the national police in check.
“The gang members will have to choose between prison and the cemetery,” said the US ambassador to Haiti, Dennis Hankins.
In April, the US began landing its air force planes in Haiti, loaded with weapons, ammunition, armoured vehicles and other combat equipment, and in addition to its soldiers, it brought with it mercenaries under the guise of contractors.
Washington – some media recall – is considered here to be to blame for the economic, political and social chaos in the Caribbean country, which it intervened militarily in 1915 and supposedly abandoned in 1934.
Most of the arms and ammunition used by the gang members, who are martyring the population, come from the United States."
Oh yeah really? “seems to be out of Haiti’s affairs”
Wtf is going on in SA? I know that the ANC has turned neoliberal and discredited itself same as western European socialist parties and US democrats by moving ever right ward. But, what explains DAs success in SA coloured population? Simply de-emphacized by the ANC with the emphasis on Zulu tribal populations by MK and EFF? Are class differences sharply increasing amongst these peoples within the nation? The break up in the ANC coalition could be tragic.
Am I getting this all wrong?
The condemn Hamas thing pisses me of so much. It’s on the same frequency as the Ukrainian peace summit, without Russia. Like it or not they are the acting political (and military obviously) power in Gaza. To ignore one of the main factions in conflict is so stupid. For the western left it just makes a false equivalence to the IOF and is meant to depress efforts on Palestines behalf and ultimately empower the genocidal entity.
Turkiye’s got to get in BRICS somehow
Let’s not put rabid dogs on that level
Beautiful prose. A master class in the English language

It’s kinda funny how belt and road is carrying out the lagecy of globalization but isn’t seen that way because it benefits the Global south and China bad…
One can only hope. Unfortunately for the US we’d likely absorb a diaspora that would make the Florida Cubans look like liberals.
Don’t give a piss 'bout nothing but the Tide!!!
It’s important to remember the geopolitical ecosystem of the time. SA came into a new country just as the USSR was dissolving and China was deep Dengist reforms, the 90s were a particularly hard time for Cuba and the DPRK. The CP’s were advising the ANC to not alienate foreign capital and globalization under US hegemony seemed a forgone conclusion - and it was for almost 25-30 years. As someone else has stated even Zimbabwean land reform was done in as friendly fashion as could be.
