  • I’ll try to talk about what I think with people who casually bring up something political without it being the focus. Try to normalize a class conscious perspective to the extent that I can, you know?

But with people who “care” I’ve found it’s kinda pointless and I don’t try. They don’t listen and won’t remember what you said later, at best they’ll decide you’re “really liberal” and operate from there. At one point it was fun just to hear the weird shit they would say, but things are getting bad and it’s not really funny anymore, and I’m not sure it’s a good idea to broadcast “I’m a communist” to people who would probably turn you in if it was an option.

  • Not to be a broken record and it definitely isn’t an ideal job for everyone, but:

If you live in the US and are anywhere with a significant population, not even a major city, the Postal Service is most likely hiring and they basically don’t care about your work history or education or anything.

It will be very physical and you will be working with a lot of people who are not educated like you are and many are likely to be old CHUDS, but it’s unionized, it’s decent money and the benefits are still okay.

They take applications (last I checked) through their own hiring website, no resume needed you just plug in your information. But expect to be given an absurd amount of work for your time as a non career employee.

I can go on but that’s one option. Sorry about your situation, job hunting sucks and is humiliating. Best of luck comrade.

  • I think Statler and Waldorf are the old guard grumpy comrades with nothing positive to say about current events but you know they have their hearts in the right place.

Beaker probably has revolutionary thoughts given how Dr. Honeydew treats him.

The Muppet rock band probably has some comrades in it but they keep it quiet because there’s a CHUD in the band too, and so we can’t tell from the outside who is what.

  • Aw shit was that me? I think there’s a few of us postal comrades on here.

The first 90 will be rough no matter what you are going into, you will be expected to put up with a lot of shenanigans. Use that time to figure out who the shop steward is and see what they’re pulling on you that is not actually by the book so you’re ready to grieve and protect yourself once you’re not on probation.

I work inside so I don’t know what the most current tech is as far as keeping cool in summer but I’m sure your coworkers will have good suggestions.
