This convinced me I don’t need to actually master perspective to be a decent artist lol
Why does this feel so suspenseful
The angles and the dim shading in the background.
Suburbia
The creepy woman in the window.
Those kids are like 8 ft tall. They’re touching the bottom of the pool and halfway out of the water right next to the 5 ft sign.
The pool floor is sloped, it is shallow and drops down towards the diving board.
But at night, it’s a different world.
This painting is absolutely mesmerizing. It’s very unusual and dynamic. Just looked up the artist, he’s fire
and I finally found a new wallpaper for the phone!
Looks dope
It’s very subtle.
- The houses are all set on a grid, as you would expect in a planned suburb. But this one building is at a 45-degree angle.
- The sunlight drops off and the mood gets dark as you look toward the big city in the distance.
- There are roiling clouds over the city, and plumes of industrial fumes spewing out of a factory.
Getting vibes of “The Swimmer” movie: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Swimmer_(1968_film)
What an interesting piece. It’s nestled right in the uncanny valley. I want to see this as a relaxing, lazy summer day, but there’s a general sense of unease, a sense of impending dread.
Makes me think of a community trying to enjoy themselves under threat of impending nuclear strike, or some situation akin to Vivarium.
