Sony’s PSVR 2 virtual reality headset will get an adaptor for PCs this summer but its best features will remain exclusive to PlayStation

Wonder if an adapter will be developed by a ‘third party’ that won’t block these additional features?

This was the biggest barrier for me getting a headset.

I’m not letting any piece of hardware from Meta in my house or on my network. The Valve Index looks great, but is expensive and seems like it’s due for a refresh.

The PSVR2 always seemed like it would be a great deal if only it could be used for PC too. I know there was ready an unofficial project working on PC compatibility, so I wonder if either that community or Sony might be able to add in these missing features later? Is it a technical issue, or does Sony just want to keep the PS5 as the more premium experience?

Also I do have a PS5 and a couple of VR games for it that I got for free, so that compatibility is a nice bonus. I’m leaning towards getting the Horizon bundle. I’m thinking I take a few months to save up and do a bit more research, but leaning towards getting it now.

I think if you have a PS5, it definitely makes sense. I love my PSVR2 even as much as others criticize it. I get at least as much use out of it as I did my quest before it and I think the experiences are way better.

For PC use even if you don’t get those features it should still be on par with the quest as it doesn’t have those features either. And maybe you’ll get lucky and they’ll open up the features later.
