Yup. I ran an old 60 MHz Pentium with 2mb of ram as a linux based icecast stream server in the late 90s. It just streamed prepared files. System couldn’t even begin to transcode on the fly. But it hummed along nicely after a day or two compiling the base gentoo system.
I mean, Microsoft pulled off that for Windows all the way back in 1995.
