Hi all,

I’m seeing a lot of hate for capitalism here, and I’m wondering why that is and what the rationale behind it is. I’m pretty pro-capitalism myself, so I want to see the logic on the other side of the fence.

If this isn’t the right forum for a political/economic discussion-- I’m happy to take this somewhere else.

Cheers!

On one hand there’s a not-insignificant chance the guy is just JAQing off, but on the other seems to be genuinely high on the kool-aid.

I’m very scared when people suggest “down with capitalism!” because it’s a pretty decent system and I worry about tearing society down unless we have very good reasons to believe it’ll be better for it.

This is the core of their stance. They seem to have their pivot point at medieval europe where of course capitalism would look good. Throw in a bunch of econ disinformation and you have a world that only makes sense in the idealized way it was presented to them.

Recommend them Peoples Republic of Walmart. Show them that socialism is just an evolution to the way things are already being done. It’s why I love the syndicalists’ “extend democracy to the workplace” line so much, because it explains what they want in a way that instantly makes sense, dispels misconceptions, and gets people excited for the future rather than afraid of everything changing in ways they don’t understand.
