@dogslayeggs it’s the same as what’s written in the post body: mastodonfc (the main football hashtag on mastodon) would anyone be interested in starting a dedicated football instance for lemmy?

what would be the purpose of that, like what’s the idea?

like one instance that hosts a football community?

or is it for group communities, like, /c/football, /c/mls, /c/premierleague ??

Or is it all just football, so it would host club communities too?

@kameecoding it would host all football communities, so /c/Arsenal, /c/premierleague, /c/realmadrid, /c/intermiami, /c/mls as many football communities all on one instance like lemmy.football or something else if that’s already taken

okay, what’s the advantage of that over it being hosted somewhere, or in mutiple places?

I know /c/football and /c/reddevils is here, and it’s not like an Arsenal fans cares about the reddevils community, so for them it’s only the football maybe the permierleague community is what’s relevant, so they can go an find it and join it.

edit: on a second look, bundesliga and permierleague are here too.

@kameecoding well having all the footie communities in one place would make them easier to find. Take for example reddevils, Bundesliga or even Premier League, I had no idea they had communities on here. But on a joined instance, you can press local and have all threads from all of them in one place.
