Stalin made people work until they were well into their mid-60s, which was a real tragedy given that life expectancy in pre-Soviet Russia was the early-30s. Dude forced you to work two full lifetimes! That’s where Communism gets you.

i’ve long held that if fascists couldn’t designate a racial or national enemy, they’d play up the distinction between men and women as their primary struggle. And if they couldn’t do that they’d go after certain age groups. They’d find something.
i think that’s part of the reason fascists in America have latched so heavily onto being anti-LGBTQ. They’re slowly realizing that open racism is broadly unpopular, so they’re flailing about trying to coherently designate a different enemy.
