I’ve never played any ttrpg online before and I’m wondering how to set it up. It’s not the tech I dont get, it’s the people. It seems the scene for online OSR play is pretty dead.

How to I join or start a solid online group?

There are lots of discord servers with people running and playing games. Check to see if a game you like has a discord server and look for a way to run or get a seat at a game.

Also, depending on what you are into I can invite you to my friend’s server where we run a bunch of OSR games. I believe a Mausritter game is starting up soon and we have different games running almost every day of the week.

I ran a game online for a few months, and my most successful way to recruit by far was OSR Discord servers. I think this is the one I had the best luck in: https://discord.gg/6vqF25E

There’s another for Necrotic Gnome’s games, OSE and Dolmenwood, that you can find here: https://discord.gg/necrotic-gnome-fan-community-589023021856063497

There’s one more OSR Discord I know of, and I don’t know that they have a public LFG section, but there are some games run on the server that people seem able to join. If you’d rather run one, maybe they’d be open to you running something there. I’m not familiar with this one, so you’ll have to check it out yourself. https://discord.gg/B6wU8TPTEa
