Four things that they don’t have the votes for, so how dare them try to fix something else that has serious issues
It was a joke based on the fact that it sounds like hip hop is the “something else” that has serious issues. You know, the ol’ lemmy switcheroo (I don’t have anything to link this to, sorry). It’s also based on the opinion (mine) that a lot of modern rap music is really bland and unimaginative.
Look, trap and mumblecore are terrible, I’ll give you that, but I really don’t think that’s a more serious issue then universal healthcare…
put another way, those four things will go a much farther way to relieve inequality than… uh. what even is a “hip hop task force”…?
It is about mass incarceration and justice reform, with a particular focus on tackling racial inequality.
Did you reply to the wrong comment?
No, did you?
“They can’t work on those 4 things. So they’re working on this other thing”
“Yeah but that thing isn’t as important as one of those 4 things”
Doesn’t really track…

Yeah, I get the joke – it just doesn’t quite work in context.
Not sure why I care though.
Well no, of course it doesn’t work in context, the whole joke was about ignoring the context.
Yeah, it’s all very unimportant, lol. I guess I need to utilize the /s more here on Lemmy, people just really aren’t expecting jokes here, haha
The movement depicted is about mass incarceration and justice reform, with a particular focus on tackling racial inequality.
Then they should call it something else.
/s in case you really still don’t get it
