User tried, ok? No judgment.
Just you regular PoE activities, nothing to see here.
More like EoP
I use that for my 3d printer. My wifi was all fine and dandy until I got an enclosure for my printer and the metal foil seriously impacted my signal strength. Used these to get Ethernet across my house, works great in a pinch!
Neat!
Until you try to use it. They have limited bandwidth and totally shit the bed if you have noisy, high power devices running on the same panel (anything with a motor).
Yeah, but don’t those usually have an Ethernet port on them? If this is a PoE adaptor, it’s the stupidest one I’ve ever seen because it requires a USB to Ethernet adapter.
Its a usb dongle for laptops that are missing an ethernet port.
Sorry, that was sarcasm, it’s just a USB to RJ45 adapter (a lan card), like Thief said.
Hey, they’re doing a power line network adapter. Nothing wrong with that.
Eh, usually won’t work with a power strip on my experience
Why wouldn’t it?
The adapter they plugged the male usb end into is not intended to output anything in the opposite direction. Second reason is it was plugged into a strip not the wall directly so both these would prevent eop from working correctly. Last reason is the dongle is intended for a laptop without an rj45 port but somehow the user found this device that was unused and decided it was for a printer they wanted to move from one side of the office to the other.
You are probably right, as I’m not an electrician and know just enough not to kill myself. lol
They only work for lines on the same circuit, power strips are technically the addition of a circuit breaker with the surge breaker on them. I used to use several in my old apartment
But the signal is still going through the same circuit of romex wire. If the house has one circuit breaker then I don’t think the surge protectors really matter much as long as they are turned on. I could be wrong, I’m not an electrician.
I’m just saying the instruction on each one I owned said don’t use with a UPS or surge protector as it won’t work. Needless to say I tried it anyway and it didn’t work lol tbf they’re a bitch to get going on the same circuit as intended anyway, they’re fine once connected though. I only had to re-pair them once a year or so
Couldn’t resist the urge to try, what’s the worst that could happen, ha? lol
That’s where the internet begins.
That’s how you get wireless internet. You have to charge the internet before taking it with you.
