I feel the news didn’t talk to any animal rescue people either. Above is what a baby Screech Owl looks like. Every article I’ve seen on this story calls it a baby.

I’m very curious as to when this owl got in this tree. I can’t imagine it hanging out in the tree very long while the tree is being moved at the tree lot or from the car to the house, etc. Owls aren’t dumb and Screechies aren’t big enough to sit around and put up a fight, they’re still prey to enough animals themselves.

While they should have indeed checked with a rescue, I’m going to remain positive about the outcome of this little owl. Rescues don’t always know the exact location an animal was found and will still release them in a suitable place. Since this owl is an adult, I feel it should likely be ok, but it has a heck of a story to tell.

I also remained positive about the outcome, since this owl seems to have remained calm ( or was it frozen in fear? ) during the whole thing… I hope it is somewhere, surrounded by friends “you guys will never believe where i was …”

They should have called animal services to take it and make sure it would survive instead of releasing it in their backyard. Dumbasses.

Carpet cleaner: You know about the baby owl?

Resident: No, but I’m glad you found it instead of me. Clean that, too.

Carpet cleaner: Ok, I put it out the back door.

Resident: Now everyone gets a merry Christmas!

      Baby owl: Dies

I do a lot of posting from apps - the one I prefer to use is still implementing parts of the API. I should just go online and crosspost until the app has that feature. I’ll make that effort from now on.

Recently learned this myself. As an educational community, I will pass this on!

Somewhere on your options for the main post, you will find an icon that looks just like the standard Copy icon. This is the crosspost button. This is it in Summit, so yours might be somewhere else, but this should help you figure it out.
