It’s nice to read about them actually acting on warnings and stopping such an attack for once.

“mass casualty event” at Tesla headquarters in Texas during a Cybertruck promotion attended by Elon Musk, prosecutors said.

The suspect also appeared to object to technology in modern life.

“I wanna die. My thoughts haven’t been free for over a year. All the electronics around me,” he wrote, according to the arrest warrant.

Sounds like he’s deeply unwell. Fingers crossed the judicial system actually manages to help him, though I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Dont you, like, have to pay MONEY to get helped? Is the US just gonna start “helping” folks with no expectation of exploitative profit? Does the criminal justice system at that level actually do any benefit to those captive, and do they receive REAL not insane therapy that isn’t just a giant tough love seminar they bill for?

Exactly. In concept, a judge can order psychological treatment, which should come from trained medical professionals. In practice, the US carceral state doesn’t have a good track record of improving the lives of people who fall into its grasp.

The for-profit prisons still bill gov’ts for treatment, and there are cap limits set.

Yeah, he traveled to Austin but police aren’t saying whether he had any weapons… At this point it sounds like he may have been attempting to provoke a “suicide by cop” scenario. But there’s not enough information to say that for sure. I’m just glad they caught the guy before he had the chance to carry out whatever he was actually there to do.
