Oh that’ll bring Amazon to it’s knees. (Rolls eyes). I’m sure that Jess Bezos is off crying into his piles of million dollar bills over this whole situation. I don’t dispute that the wages and working conditions at Amazon are probably unfair and terrible - I used to work in a medical warehouse and it was not very pleasant. But - I still got a paycheck and health insurance and was able to afford the necessities of life. Never felt a need to kick my employer in the teeth or demand pay equal to the CEO of the company. Because I know full well that is not going to happen and that’s the nature of our capitalistic society, some people will always have a greater slice of the pie. Meanwhile I ain’t complainin, I got mine.

It’s a line from the comic “Hagar the Horrible,” what are life’s best 3 little words? “I got mine.” Words to live by. I’m not saying you shouldn’t kick against the system once in a while, just to rock the boat a little, but that people should be more grateful for what they do have. I’ve been to poverty-laden islands where people live in old cardboard boxes with a mattress and six kids. As a rule.

You just don’t realize how good we have it here, even if it means we have to work hard sometimes and get up early and spend five days a work working for someone else. That’s an opportunity millions of other humans can only dream of having.

Just cut out the fluff and say you’re an asshole who only cares about yourself.

Amazon workers are suppose to kiss Jeff Bezos ass because ppl are starving to death elsewhere? I’ve heard of boot licking but this is spreading your cheeks so you can take boot straight up the asshole

I thought it was a troll account at first, but it appears to be a legitimate user on closer inspection. They have some real shitty police bootlicking takes, but as they claim to be a white male in their sixties, that’s not too unexpected for someone who is out of touch with problems that don’t affect them personally. They have posted some strong support of the queer community before, and claim to be gay themselves, so perhaps they have enough empathy left to come around on this issue if someone has a thorough explainer on white privilege, late stage capitalism, and systemic racism.

It’s gonna need to be someone more patient than me though. Good luck @tygerprints

And this selfish, self-centered, thinking is exactly why everyone is fucked, including my gene entire pool and yours. But hey, you “got yours”.

This “capitalistic society” is and always has been unsustainable. Any elementary school student can look at the system and say, “how can something grow forever? That doesn’t make sense”. And you explain, “it can’t, but there is something that grows forever in nature; it’s called cancer. And it kills the organism.”

People like you that have been thoroughly indoctrinated by a capitalist society are big part of the problem that is a capitalist society. It’s good to be grateful for what we have, but we should never so complacently accept meager scraps or delude ourselves into thinking that it’s an acceptable reward for our labor.

Do you ever reflect on the fact that “we” have it good “here” because other people are suffering?

We are incredibly fortunate, but it comes at a serious cost. The cheap electronics and clothing and tchotchkes we drown ourselves in is made on the backs of folks less fortunate (not to mention the biosphere as a whole). We didn’t sign up to be on the side of exploitation, and we don’t want to live in ignorance of what supports our way of life.

I’d actually argue it’s much worse than that. The cheap electronics and tchotchkes we drown ourselves in wouldn’t actually be that much more expensive if the work was done in developed countries.

But then companies wouldn’t make bigger profit margins every year, so obviously nothing else can be done.

It’s not even the comfort of populations that drives the exploitation. It’s the ‘high score’ of a few sociopaths.

There’s a big difference between a bigger slice of the pie and taking all of the pies and making everybody share the crumbs. It’s an incomprehensible wealth disparity.

If you think unions are “kicking their employers in the teeth demanding pay equal to the CEO,” I can see why you think the way you do. Trouble is, you’re fucking wrong

I think you and I and everyone should try to do something nice for our employers like giving them back our sick days and maybe taking a 40% pay cut. That way we can be sure we are doing our part so the owners and investors can get richer faster. And it’ll feel good too.
