Perhaps go to a less demanding motorsport then.

There are 20 places for f1 and one of them is being taken by someone who does not belong there

I mean that feels unnecessary. This is a person who is clearly very upset and seems to be having a tough time at the minute. maybe it’s not helpful for people to pile on.

I have to disagree. The man’s issue is that he refuses to relinquish this position that he’s clearly not qualified for or deserving of. He doesn’t get to be upset at the scrutiny when he has never had to play by the same rules as any of the other nineteen drivers on the grid. Furthermore, his mechanics have had an entire season of putting up with his nonsense, whilst the other half of the garage have had to work less and celebrate more.

It’s a shit situation for Lance. I don’t like to see another human being hurting. The solution, however, is to be grateful for the years in Formula One he’s had, and go have a no-doubt successful career in Endurance, DTM, IndyCar, GT racing or Formula E.

Who’s to say that papa stroll isn’t forcing him to race?

Wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t get paid for his ride and the budget is blown for alonso

I do very much get the impression Lance is pressured by his Dad to keep racing. I can’t imagine that Lance is being compromised for Nando though. Lawrence’s dream has always been for his son to be WDC, so I imagine Lance’s car is on-parity with Nando’s.

I can’t imagine he gets paid nothing. I’ve always presumed he gets a nominal salary. Regardless, Lance is going to always be unfathomably wealthy unless his Dad cuts him off completely, which I presume wouldn’t happen. Even if he was cut off, Lance now has the experience and the contacts to make a large amount of money independent of his Dad.

I think it is fair to be critical of his performance and even to state that one doesn’t think that he is performing at a level necessary for F1 however ‘Poor baby’ as a reaction to his understandable reaction to not qualifying where he knows the car can qualify is an unnecessary personal attack.

I mean, play stupid games win stupid prizes? If you’re not adult enough to be able to express your frustration in a way that doesn’t harm those around you, you open yourself up to accusations of being a baby.

Most of these drivers arent adult enough for anything. Much like teen actors they have been brought up through a very weird youth, surrounded by people who would manage everything for them, and never finished school. Look at Leclerc’s emotional outbursts, or Russell’s confrontation with Bottas, or Max and Esteban…

Expect people to always react well to situations and you will often be disappointed. He didn’t react well, but having a modicum of understanding and acceptance of someone’s humanity and fallibility seems like a fair expectation.

I’d be more willing to extend sympathy and understanding to Lance, if we’d ever seen any of that from him to his fellow professionals. How’d he appreciate his teammates humanity when he fucked-over his teammates in Formula 3? Where was his sympathy when he cost Ocon his seat? The seat he earned on-merit thanks to his family selling their home to fund his career?

How are you so sure that stroll did not offer his sympathies to ocon in private. Considering Ocon has remained stroll’s closest friend amongst the drivers(and vice versa) even after stroll fucked him over, it is clear that at a personal level stroll did offer his sympathies in some way.

There are plenty of reasons to dislike stroll but being outraged on behalf of Ocon when ocon himself does not have any problems with stroll is stupid.

This is also a person who with even a modicum of introspection would understand that he is well out of his depth. This year has made it abundantly clear he is not good enough for F1. He is a “poor baby” because he is acting like a baby. He is clearly facing the fact that he isn’t good enough and instead of accepting it he throws a temper tantrum. Little babies act like that.

He’s still a human. I have a fair chunk of reverse snobbery too, but it seems unnecessary to be unkind to somebody just because they’re rich.

That’s the best reason to be unkind.
