I’ve been speaking to our VP about keyboards - he was curious about the boards I had lying around and mentioned he’s looking for something lower impact, as he suspects he’s starting to get arthritis. He types a ton, it’s basically his entire job to write proposals and emails.

I don’t know if he’s quite ready to jump off the deep end for something like a ZSA Voyager, and most likely he’ll end up trying a mass produced scissor switch board with a numpad first… but are there any other recommendations in between a $100 mass produced logitech ergo board and a $350+ ZSA that are ortho & low profile?

You might want to have a browse of [email protected] as well as the subreddit. Within that budget the best bet is likely something DIY. Though there is a middle ground with vendors offering build services and kits that are hot-swappable, turning “building” into “assembling”.

Have a look at some popular choices and lists likes in the EMK wiki that I put together.

I have not used one but am certainly interested in Perixx ergo keyboards. They have TKL and 100% sizes and wired and wireless versions. Reasonable pricing as well.

For a bit higher build quality with a price to match there’s Keychron Q10 , there is a slightly cheaper version that is wired as well.

I have come from the ergo side as I have had pretty bad RSI in the past. I have a Perixx PERIBOARD which I got to replace an MS ergo keyboard after I dumped coffee over it and needed a new keyboard the same day.

It’s pretty good, quality is good, the wrist rest is hard plastic and feels it but it’s not bad. I spend all day, every day typing and it’s held up pretty well. Haven’t had any issues with connections, wireless works fine. It’s robust, keys feel OK. It’s not a $300 keyboard but honestly feels better than the $60 it costs. If you’re starting out on the ergo trail, I recommend considering them at least.
