Current events and all. I got all of mine as a kid, but thinking now would be a good time for a booster.

    If I understand the official guidance, boosters aren’t needed unless you got your childhood vaccine between 1968-1989 since that’s when they used a less effective form - otherwise you should be 95% protected throughout your whole life. If you need a booster then I assume you could ask your PCP and they would probably be able to direct you.

      I found an NPR article that says people who were vaccinated before 1968 did not receive the live vaccine, so they should get revaccinated. Also people vaccinated between 1968 and 1989 probably only received one dose, so they should make sure they’ve had a second dose.

      The NPR article links to a page on the CDC Website, but that page doesn’t mention any of that information anymore. You can find the info on an archived version from February, when the NPR article was posted.
