Now, historically, if you live close to a mayor power you do not like much (think of Ukraine or Cuba), the best is to have a strong army but never to join another distant power thinking it will save you, they will just use you.
So when Ukrainians try to push for closer alignment with the EU it’s a Washington-backed color revolution and thus is no different than Russia rolling into the literal tanks.
