They say it on page 340/510, it’s far from their last words
It’s not even the final words in the screenshot lmao
It’s the last by that speaker though?
Sure, but it says last recorded broadcast of the ship, not the person
You’re hired
From the source 2M has spoken at 7:26, hours afterwards
Yeah, but you said the screenshot
He still said it during a life or death situation. I respect that.
The last few pages of the transcript are chilling. I don’t know who this helmsman, AB-1, is, but I deeply feel for them.
(Implied) heavy content

Yeah I read the Wikipedia page and it went from “rhut row” to downright depressing real quick
On October 5, an unidentified body in a survival suit, presumed to be from El Faro, was found but was not recovered. According to the rescue diver, the body was unrecognizable, its head three times normal size
how tf does that happen?
My guess is a combination of bloating from decomposition and, more importantly, pressure from the depths
waterlogged, cells are swollen with ocean water probably
classic boneswell of the skull
I started looking for confirmation a bit ago and really appreciate your source. A search for ‘Merchant Mariner Ship ruh roh’ led me to the El Faro, but no articles contained the actual quote. On my phone browser it was quoted on 339, just as a heads up for anyone else.
That’s 2nd Mate Danielle Randolph who quoted Scooby. She and others tried to get the Captain to further change course around the weather. He did not. Everyone died.
He just didn’t take the storm seriously enough and once things became dire it was clear that neither the ship nor the crew were properly set up to make it through. Bad maintence and poor training by the ship owner TOTE were the secondary causes.
Once they abandoned ship they had little chance of survival due to outdated lifeboats and equipment.
As bad as the Captain screwed up, in the end he seemed a good person. After giving the order to abandon ship, one of the crew understandably panicked and froze up. Captain Davidson did not leave him. He spent his final minutes trying to help that last man as the ship sank under them.
The last we heard of 2nd Mate Randolph she had gone in search of life vests for herself, the Captain, and the panicked crewmen. She was there to the end as well.
ah shit was that the El Faro?
Sailed right into a hurricane and killed everyone onboard 🙄
Actually: They broke down and the ship’s owner, Tote Marine, was too cheap to call for a tow.
Tote Marine then sued the families of the crew to try and block all legal consequences.

Every day I seem to find more space in my heart for hate…
I wish there weren’t so many people that deserved it.
If that’s your criterion you’re destined to be a hater. Obviously there are going to be opportunities for hate. The trick is to decide not to hate anyway.
Leading with love is not about believing the world is all rainbows. Leading with love is about seeing the door to the dark side open and inviting, and not stepping through it.
If the universe were so trivially easy to love that the door to the dark side was locked tight, there’d be no reason to grow up and take control of one’s own heart.
Nothing personal just my own ramblings here. Obviously there are reasons to hate. The point is to choose to cultivate love, even when the ground is fertile for hate.
First part of your comment isn’t true. I can’t find any source to back that up. The company did screw up in plenty of other ways. Then they tried to weasle out of the consequences as your link illustrates,. So still villians.
My source is the 2nd Mate of the ship I was on at the time. Similar route to the TS Erika depicted on page 16 of the report. The El Faro lost propulsion before 0530 on Oct-1-2015 and had been forced to restore it MacGuyver style because no tow for you. He knew because they had a “Not Under Command” going and decided to eavesdrop on the radio. He literally came down for dinner on Sep-30-2015 and talked about it under the assumption that Tote was going to have no choice but to get them towed.
